I like this look |
My dressing
style has been as ordinary as just a shirt (usually a t-shirt) and a jean. I
was known in school (my university days) for this; many called it engineering
style of dressing, an excuse they made for me for not dressing to impress. Corporate
dressing was never my thing. This is not because I did not like corporate looks,
but more because of the tie (and suit too). I would always wonder why I should
use a tie on my neck; it feels strangling and suffocating in my mind.
Throughout
my university days, I can count the number of times I dressed on corporate
(not the complete corporate o…), not to talk of the number of times I used a
tie. Ok, I recall wearing a tie on my Seminar defence, my Final Project defence
and my Graduation Dinner; just these 3 times.
Not having
the need for ties, did not stop me from learning more ways to knot a tie than
my father taught me. I have come to the rescue of many who are deficient in
this knowledge, and needed to complement their dressing with a tie (most of them, when preparing for interview) …and I think
to myself, will I ever use this knowledge for me?
Lately, I
seem to have got the answer. I have realised that there is a stage in life that
you can’t really dodge from the tie; Job interviews, Seminars, Workshops, Some
dinner and red carpet events. If one finds himself in the corporate world, then
not just a tie, but even a suit (complete corporate dressing) is expected of
him/her. Nowadays, I wear tie like it has been a hobby for years.
Ladies may
not really have the need for ties on their corporate wears, but I still
encourage them to learn how to knot it. Just imagine your hubby getting ready
for work and you are there to help him knot his tie (chei…I like the thought of
it. lol). Your kids might attend schools where tie is part of their uniform,
you don’t want to tell that kid, I don’t know how to knot this thing o; go,
your dad or teacher will help you.
As for the
guys, especially those of you who may not love the corporate dressing, I
encourage you to try and learn "how to knot a tie"The knowledge will come handy one day or another.
See me knot a tie...lol |
Learn some ways to knot a Tie |
You got me with ties being my kids school uniform because if it were just about my husband then OYO is his case ;-). Thanks for the tutorials though.
ReplyDeleteI am glad you observed the tutorial.
DeleteNow I ask, if you will not help your husband to knot his ties sometimes, who would?
Hmmmm... He has hands right? Unless of course he helps me tie my gele on Sundays :-p
ReplyDeleteTie your gele? Lol... If I were "him", I wouldn't mind provided you are OK with the outcome. (I pity u...lol)
DeleteThis post still makes sense almost a year later! Well I'd have to teach him how to tie gele too.
DeleteI learned how to knot a tie while attending high school. There, both makes and females wore ties. I felt it was important preparation for us, even though some people simply knotted it once and then lifted the whole arrangement over their heads. The very act of knotting a tie helps to put you in a specif frame of mind.
