Another
set of corps members are passing out today, Thursday 2nd July 2015. I
can imagine what the feeling is like for them. For those of them that will read
this post, I ask: “Are you good to go?” I
my blog mother happens to be one of them. I am so happy for all of you as you pass
out from this phase of life.
I can
relate with this passing out set well because, as a corps member myself, I was
amongst those who went to the orientation camp in Nsit Atai, Akwa Ibom state to
welcome this 2014/15 Batch B set to the Land of uncommon transformation, as is
the slogan of the state. When I passed out, I handed over whatever powers and responsibilities
I had at the time as a corps member to this set: Head of Corps member (or Head
Corper as it is popularly called) – Itu LGA Council, President – Guidance &
Counselling Community Development Service (CDS) group, Public Relations Officer
(PRO) – National Association of Catholic Corps Members (NACC), and a Hustler.
With these being mentioned, you can tell me how uneventful my service was. I
still look back at those days with rickety feelings. I will hint you why.
Apart
from the fact that I was involved with nearly everything that makes a Corps
Member a true and active one and barely had time for even myself, I also let me
heart open of one true Love. I have stylishly blogged about it in the past
severally. Anyway shaa… towards the end of my service year, things fell apart
and I did not celebrate my passing out like I wished. I was too busy for myself
being everywhere else and doing every other thing like it was my father’s
business, and gave title time for the one person that had become my sole business
– that was my crime. But I still smile at those days, and consider it an
experience, one of those types that don’t just come like that.
To
those passing out today, I really wish you well. The challenges that lay ahead
are enormous than the ones you have surmounted. This is a period to put in more
meaningful efforts to whatever plans you have. Try not to ever stay idle, the moment you find yourself idle, know that the devil is trying to set you up. It is time to make use of your knowledge and energy positively. No one says it will be that easy, but things can only get better as the days go by. My Secondary school’s motto
says “Work and Pray”, and that is what I advise you to keep doing and I am sure
Oluwa (God) will bless your hustle.
Congratulations
ones again.
Thanks dear. Although like you said it's COC jare.
ReplyDeleteCOC for those still wondering means Collection of Certificate. It is just the high point of it all, every other thing is serereee... Lol.
DeleteCongrats once again.
Shea Saturday celebration is still on point?
Still on point.
DeleteShow me a man or woman who went for NYSC that didn't fall in love openly or secretly...
ReplyDeleteLol... Tales of a Corper.
DeleteLol! I don't think I fell in love sha...
DeleteMami, no bi u? You are forming James Bond naa. How will you fall in love when you are standing in one already? Lol... Oya, talk true.
DeleteHa! I did ooooo right from the orientation camp. I even visited the bobo in his place of primary assignment and lo and behold his babe was there jeje. He is married now so i am
ReplyDeleteMy service year was eventful and i still remember it with utmost joy. I worked for God like i have never worked before (was an rural executive in NCCF) and i believe that the harvest i am enjoying now were seeds sown then.
NYSC is a great idea but the government should enrich it and ensure security of lives of the future leader (well, that's what we have been called)
I can imagine how you must have felt when you met that bobo's babe... Ndo ooo!
DeleteI am happy you are married now, so that bobo was not yours after all.
You served in NCCF... that's nice. Hope you went for Rural Rugged (I hope that is not peculiar Akwa Ibom where I served). I am sure God was setting you up for greatness from all your service to him.
I agree with you on NYSC needing a reform, starting from remuneration for corps members (Alawee) to their welfare and scope of the programme generally.
Thanks for your comments Nkem... I can totally relate with you.
Lol congratulations to all of them. It's my turn in a few months whooopppp! I can't wait mehn. This nysc life is stress. I don't envy you guys that participate actively, can't deal
ReplyDeleteDear, the waiting can be endless o, but it will surely come, that's the consolation.
DeleteSeriously, participating actively for me was really worth it. I can only advice that you make the remaining months count more than it is already.
You know Papi, I have heard so much bout this Service....mostly crazy things...hehe...buh I wish everyone the best and YES! Bring it on July! I am sooooooo ready!
ReplyDeleteHow are you Papi...I am sorry it's been a while I got on this space...I have been packed!
