The Land is GREEN

If you don’t know, the land is green and greener shall it become… Amen.
Happy birthday Nigeria ...but you are getting too old o…lol.  Friends, I love my country, I no go lie, is just that sometimes Naija can vex someborri shaa. But this day, I chose to look away from all the challenges and wahala in Nigeria and look on to God who holds the future of our country and give him the glory for the assurance of taking our country to where it is meant to be and I know deep in my heart that the journey has fully become and Nigeria will rise again… sure, the process has begun.
Are you part of the process of Nigeria’s rise? What role are you playing? You can’t be at the corner just waiting and watching to see what becomes of our blessed nation. All hand should be on deck to move Nigeria forward. You may not be the president or the governor of any of the 36 states of the country, it doesn’t make you less Nigerian than those who are. It doesn't make you less responsible for the growth of our nation. We all have a role to play no matter how small or big. We all exist somewhere… what is important is that we live right there, keep our morals up, effect positive changes where and when possible and impact as much as we can.

At the just concluded all African games, every time the Nigeria anthem was sung as a result of a Nigerian athlete winning gold, I look at the face of the athlete and I see pride written all over his/her face. Many of us have never had that kind of feeling. We should seek it, I must say it is a beautiful feeling. As a corps member truly serving my country in the NYSC, I felt it; embedded in it is a feeling of responsibility, a call to serve and maintain self dignity. This reminds me of the saying: “we should not wait for what our country will do for us instead, we should focus on what we need to do for our country” (something like that shaa...) and I must add that the pride comes more from what we do for our country. There is no doubt things are not yet all right at the moment, but I am confident that it can only get better.
Now I am not happy for this one thing: you know how much I love cakes on birthdays. Today Nigeria is 55 yrs old and everybody is talking about celebrations. Shouldn't there be a cake for Nigeria or should I say a “National Cake”? (***BMF Wispers to me*** "There is".) When then will I get to eat this national cake seeef? Is it when Niaja becomes 60 or 65 or…? Na wa ooo! Lol… I just have longa throat sometimes. You know what? Even if there is a cake, we should share it amongst ourselves so that all may have a fair share.
My prayer for all of us this day is that we will get to celebrate together still in this country, the Birthday of the Nigeria of our dreams – (a greater, better and world-class nation) 55 years from today.
Do have a beautiful celebration and holiday today and very importantly a splendid Month of October.

Cheers!
Let's paint the town GREEN joooor!
